Quest for Valor

Quest for Valor is an action adventure RPG game that I created as a teaching implement for level, quest, dungeon and world design at Vancouver Film School. The game centers around an adventurer named Juno, who must rid the land of the evil undead forces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designed and programed the characters, controls and camera
  • Designed and programed the AI systems with Behavior Tree, Blueprint, Blackboard and EQS, which included:
    • Awareness states and last known position
    • Idles, Patrols, and scriptable behaviors
    • Five different enemy classes with unique behaviors and abilities
    • Combat path finding based on line of sight, distance, angle and height
    • Faction and alignments
  • Designed and implemented level ingredients, such as doors, elevators, pressure plates and more
  • Designed and implemented other features, such as dialogue, journal, and a moddable boss
  • Used as a teaching implement at Vancouver Film School to teach single player, dungeon, world and mission design
